We are the robots (II)

Everything started with Christos’ idea for a “rain-robot”. But what is the robot; Our hypotheses were verified by watching videos with robots in school ‘s projector room.

photo 1

We copied the moves of the robots

photo 2

We made the faces of the robots from recycled material

photo 3

We became the robots by wearing tin uniforms

photo 4

We split into groups and played a board game, cutting parts for a robot’s body

photo 5

We rolled the dice, found the corresponding member of the robot’s body and stuck it on the paper

photo 6

And so we made our robots!

Dance has no rules in kindergarten

Every Thursday, kindergarten kids can’t wait for the dance lesson with Olga!

IMG_3461

Based on improvisation, Olga gives the stimuli and children through experimentation, discover new ways of movement and expression.

IMG_3440

Dance has no rules, there is not right and wrong. Through movement and by the only use of objects, children explore their body.

IMG_0566

Familiarize with it, learn to control their movement.

IMG_3444

Take initiatives, trust themselves.

IMG_0701

Cooperate, feed their imagination.

IMG_0575

Express ideas, experiences and feelings.

During this dance class, children activate all their senses.

Learning about Darth Vader in school bus

Who doesn’t know about Darth Vader? The answer is me. This was true, until the day children in the school bus taught me everything about him…

photo 1

Whoever believes adults have nothing to learn from children, makes a big mistake! Consider me, for example. I learned so much about Darth, even where he lives. Next day I even had the chance to meet him!

photo 2

It was a little daunting at first, but it is so interesting to become a child again and see the world through their eyes….

photo3

As always, the game was so creative. They told me, “We made our own monsters”.

Two hours in the woods, are enough….

????

….to discover new paths.

????

….to discover the botanical walk (and to possibly see the Christmas goblins making their magical tricks using herbs, according to Myronas!)

????

…to see a strange and huge tree.

????

….to make signs on the ground to help us find our way back.

????

…to find something looking like a hollow for birds (but it was not…)

20160203_112006

…to cook!

????

…to show our leadership skills!

????

…to discover the beauty of nature.

20160203_120007

….and to leave our mark on the ground!

All, until next time!!!

Henry from Taiwan in our kindergarten

These days we have a visitor in our school. His name is Henry and he is a student from Taiwan. Henry will be with us for six weeks and so we have the opportunity to learn many things about his country and culture.

IMG_0252

Few days ago, he prepared a very interesting presentation, in order for our children to get to know Taiwan.

IMG_0248

We saw Taiwan on the map and he told us it looks like a leaf!  We saw its flag and photos of his city.

IMG_0245

After that, we tried together to speak Taiwanese! We translated many words from Greek to Taiwanese and he wrote the name of every children using Chinese ideograms.

Our kids were excited and many of them proved to be quite talented in Chinese writing.

Henry thank you, you are most welcomed in our school !!

Not just a pizza box

“Hey, what are you doing, again?”
Me: “I’m not doing anything, yet. I’m trying to think of what to do”.                                               “I know!!!! Why don’t you make something?”                                                                                                 Me: “Like what? It would be nice to make a table game. Any ideas?”

20160115_105840

“Yes! We can make streets, and pavements and street lights”!

20160115_103033

“Oh, and we can make a football field”!

????

“And we can make a jungle!!!”                                                                                                                             Me: “A jungle?! Really?!”

20160115_103048

“Yes! We will paint in on the box! And we can put our animal toys in there and we can play in the jungle”!

So, now we’ve got three new table games in pre-K class!

Always think twice and do not throw anything! Just let it to children’s imagination…

Like a good rock band

Babies discovered plenty of empty tomato cans in our yard and decided to create noise!

Slide2

Used various toys and a paint brush as drum sticks….

Slide1

They even composed a song.  And after finishing their show, like a good rock band, packed instruments into the car and drove away….
